Loving Others

"Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us."  - 1 John 4:11-12

When you experience something amazing it is only natural to want to share it with everyone.  If somebody reaches out and rescues you from something, it makes it much easier to do the same for somebody else.  Every time somebody is compassionate or loving to you, you feel empowered to do the same to others.

1 John 4:19 says that, “we love because God first loved us.” As you spend time reading Scripture and choosing to abstain from things so that you can make room to "delight in God," it is our hope that you would encounter the overwhelming love of God through Christ. As you encounter this transforming love, it serves as a catalyst for extending God's love to others.

2 Corinthians 5:15-21 says that since God reconciled us to himself through Christ, we are then empowered to be ambassadors of God’s love.  By looking at ourselves through God’s eyes and seeing that we are offered reconciliation through Christ, we can then look at others around us and see that God desires for us to reach out and love them as well.

As Jesus commands us to love others, he reminds us that this not only includes our friends and family but our enemies as well. Allow God to stretch you during these next 40 days as you become a channel for God's love in and through you to everyone around you.
